Introducing the Knowhow Shop Dining Set
We built a dining set comprising the Cracked Table and Kerf Chairs for local public relations firm Secret Agent PR. We constructed the pieces out of reclaimed old growth and new FSC-certified redwood. The Knowhow Shop Dining Set will soon be available in a variety of materials and finishes from our shop so stay tuned!

Nongla Restaurant (opening soon)
See images of Nongla Restaurant construction in progress. This project features another collaboration between Knowhow Shop, 2ndwnd and a local restaurant. Nongla, a Vietnamese restaurant, is opening soon on Sawtelle Avenue. Knowhow Shop designed the seating and 2ndwnd laser-engraved the signage.

Washing Spot Now Open
Knowhow Shop designed the interior and signage for this self-serve dog wash in Silverlake. The long narrow space is taken advantage of by creating a grain in the tub deck and cashwrap that bends as it approaches the street. The decking is red oak with a vinegar stain: each piece of wood reacts differently allowing the material to take on the many tones of a dirty (or clean) dog’s fur....
Tilted Shelf
Shop member Beau Kiger built this tricky bookshelf from a design by Knowhow Shop. Seeming at first a simple, though finely crafted, piece of furniture, the shelf takes advantage of books tendency to lean, and plays with our own finely tuned perceptions of when things aren’t straight.

Pop Tree: The Unfolding Xmas Tree
2ndwnd helped lasercut an alternative sustainable Christmas tree designed by Leilani Trujillo. The Pop Tree, made of silk-screened chipboard and birch plywood, is inspired by pop-up origami. It unfolds to bring life to a flat, inconspicuous object.

Barnacles on a...

CNC Pumpkin Carving Workshop with deLaB
A pumpkin resembling Zaha Hadid, a Jeff Koons pinata, a D.I.Y. tap serving craft brews, and a roomful of merry ghosts and adorable goblins were all present at the Knowhow Shop last weekend for a Halloween-themed CNC milling workshop.
Needless to say, the event — a collaboration between Knowhow Shop and Design East of La Brea — was a smashing success as you can see from the pictures...

Burger Nickels from 2ndwnd

Out of our hair!
The comb bike rack is finished! Knowhow Shop is breathing a sigh of relief now that the bike rack is enroute to Virginia. The 400 pound comb is handcrafted out of Mangaris using full mortise and tenon construction, while the hair is made from powder coated steel.

In case you hadn’t heard, our shop is having a garden show next weekend. But today we took a break from the garden show to work on a bike rack. Our entry for a public bike rack received first place in a national design competition and is commissioned by the City of Roanoke. Think where Stuart Little would lock his bike.
